Solving Equations (VA - 8th)

Resource to be Re-mixed in its original form: Solving Equations

Material added: Additional material for lesson - Virtual Manipulatives Illuminations Virtual Algebra Tiles

The virtual manipulatives are good for students to use to practice doing the equations on the "Solving Equations" math lesson. I don't recommend using the virtual manipulates to solve the problems provided on the site. I would show students with the pictures from the "Solving Equations" lesson, and then introduce them to algebra tiles. Let them know that instead of little bags, the unknown (variable) is represented by rods. The constants are represented by the squares.

No Solution problem: 2x + 3 = 2x + 6

Infinitely Many solutions 2x - 3 = 2x - 3
