The objective of this video clip is to help students understand what Pangaea and develop an understanding for the evidence of the theory for plate tectonics.

How to Use in Classroom

Before starting the notes on plate tectonic theory or Pangaea, have students conduct a brainstorm activity where they share what they already know about plate tectonics or Pangaea. Write down what they say and place it in an area where you can look back over it after the video clip.

When you go to start the clip, ask the students answer the following questions:

1. What is Pangaea?

2. What are supporting evidence for the existence of Pangaea?

After watching the clip, discuss the answers that the students caught. Use this as an important segway to what the theory of plate tectonics is and how Pangaea helped to provide most of the evidence for this situation.
