Understanding Equality and Inequality (EngageNY Remix)
This lesson is adapted from Grade 6, Module 4, Lessons 23 and 24, by EngageNY.
In this lesson, students gain a better understanding of the ideas of both equality and inequality in preparation for solving one step equations and inequalities. This lesson focuses on addition and subtraction equations and inequalities and what their solution sets look like. There is a second lesson that I remixed which does this same process for multiplication and division equations and inequalities. There are also follow up lessons that teach how to solve one step equations and inequalities. All lessons are remixed versions of the EngageNY lessons. I have reorganized, reordered and, in some places, added additional activities. The first file is the teacher notes for the lesson and the second file is the student materials.
