Solving One-Step Addition and Subtraction Equations (EngageNY Remix)
This lesson is adapted from Grade 6, Module 4, Lessons 25 and 26, by EngageNY.
In this lesson, students work to solve one step addition and subtraction equations using mental math and tape diagrams. This lesson should follow the lesson titled "Understanding Equality and Inequality". There is a third lesson that I remixed which does this same process for multiplication and division equations. This lesson is a combination of two Engage lessons. I have edited the lessons to focus on only addition and subtraction equations and have added a Desmos to the tape diagram portion of the lesson. The first file is the teacher notes for the lesson and the second file is the student materials.
