This resource shows how I would remix "Equations and Formulas" from Illustrative Mathematics  (https://goopenva.org/courses/equations-and-formulas/view) . 

The original resource asks students to use inverse operations to solve the equations for the unknown variable, or for the designated variable if there is more than one. 

To make the activity more effective, I would have students write out their steps in complete sentences. That way they could more clearly see how the equations and formulas are solved in the same way.
