Balancing a Checkbook (Math 8.4 Consumer Application)
Provide students with the "Practical Situations" document. Students typically prefer a hard copy of the situations so they don't have to flip back and forth from the Google Sheets to the Google Docs. Students use consumer application of tax, discount, tip, credit, and debit to fill out a digital checkbook register on their devices.
The digital Checkbook Register on Google Sheets needs to be added to Google Classroom. Click "Make a copy" so that each students gets their own document to edit. The document is created so students can check themselves. The date, credit, debit, and total cells turn blue if the correct figure is typed.
*I recommend completing this activity prior to assigning to students.
Practical Situations: Print as a hard copy for students or add to google classroom, so students can access on their devices.
Checkbook Register (Google Sheets): You must sign into your google account, then click "file" and "make a copy" so that you can manipulate the document. Add to google classroom, so students can access to their devices.
