Car Predictions Scatterplot_A.9_AFDA 3_Desmos
Desmos: Car Predictions
Make predictions, using data, scatterplots, or the equation of the curve of best fit.
How can you use prediction to decide which car to buy?
Task:
- On your mobile device research your favorite car: Choose a specific model!
- Identify two variables in the car that would give you a positive correlation, negative correlation, or weak correlation.
- Research 5 other cars to see if there is a correlation between these two variables you selected.
- Give the correlation coefficient (r-value) and the curve of best fit and make one prediction based on your equation.
How could you use this prediction to decide which car to buy?
1. Sign in to Desmos using your google account, using a button that allows you to do
some with a single click!
- Next click the + sign in the top left corner, and select table.
- Input your data in the x,y table. Click the wrench on the right hand side to change your window to fit the data. Which window settings make sense based on the data?
- Set your labels. In some cases you may want to add a line of best fit, after calculating it, you can type it into the editor below the table. Then click the share key, and then “image”
.
- In the new window, “right click” and copy the image, be careful not to copy the image’s URL, and paste it into your project.
Write a summary statement to explain your decision of which car you would buy based on your research. Justify using mathematical reasoning.
