Histogram Exploration (EngageNY Remix)

These lessons are pulled from EngageNY but contain slight modifications and suggestions to enable them to better align with Virginia Standards.

Lesson 1 (EngageNY Grade 6, Module 6, Lesson 3)

This lesson walks students through how to create and interpret a dot or line plot. It also has students build a frequency table. I would begin with this lesson as a way to provide foundational knowledge useful to building a histogram. This aligns to 7.9c where students have to compare a histogram to a line plot.

Lesson 2 (EngageNY Grade 6, Module 6, Lesson 4)

This lessons walks students through building and interpreting histograms. There are multiple examples and great opportunities for extension. I have modified this lesson to note the opportunities for extension. This aligns to 7.9a and 7.9b and provides opportunities for alignment with 7.9c as well.
