 1.      Ask the students to form the groups of 3 or 4. Students will work on the maps of their imaginary cities. After completing the maps each group should write a paragraph about the city.

        Instruction:

1.      Nommez la ville. Ma ville s’appelle ___________________.

2.      Utilisez au moins 4 adjectifs pour décrire la ville (animée, tranquille, touristique, populaire, paisible, peuplée).

3.       Identifiez au moins que 15 endroits/magasins/batiments.

4.      Nommez les rues, les avenues, et les boulevards.

5.      Decrivez la ville. Dans ma ville il y a _______________

a)      Utilisez les prépositions (devant, derrière, à coté de, à gauche, à droite, au centre, entre). Il y a une piscine à coté de la banque.

b)      Nommez queliques activités (Les gens aiment aller au park et y jouer au baseball. Les locaux aime nager dans le lac en été.)

6.      Students practice giving directions. They continue to work in the same groups. Students should use the following vocabulary.

Example: Draw a person on the map or put a small object to represent the starting point. Start giving directions.  

“Allez tout droit à la rue les Amis. Passez la rue Paisible. Au boulevard Bonheur tournez à droite. Allez tout droit et à la rue Sourire tournez à gauche. Où es-tu?___________.”

After practicing in the group, the team members choose the departing point, write down the directions on the piece of paper, check for spelling, and attach it to the map. Students hang their maps on the walls of the classroom or in the hallway (I use the hallway).

Teacher hands out a worksheet to each student.

Students walk around and record their answers. The answers will be checked at the end of the activity.  

Students have collaborated well and enjoyed this activity.
