About me

My name is Sandy Chalke and I have been an educator for 17 years with teaching experience in Middle and Secondary School students in the USA and India. I am highly qualified with experience in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate and innovative lesson plans in middle school mathematics. After achieving my National Board Certification in Middle School Mathematics in the Year 2014, I was reached out by a National Board of Professional Standards representative stating that one of my Portfolio entry was accepted to be added to their library of digital archives named “ATLAS” (Accomplished Teaching, Learning, and Schools). ATLAS was launched by National Board to showcase a library of authentic videos and written analyses of NBCT’s work that will be used by pre-service and in-service teachers and universities to train teacher candidates.

Currently, I am teaching at Farmwell Station Middle school, Ashburn, VA where I have been an active member of our school’s ED Elements Personalized Learning Leadership Team and have undertaken a few initiatives, like One to the World and "How to personalize?" to name a few. Apart from teaching, I also facilitate workshops for teachers, as I share plan and deliver professional development activities to the teachers in the county on Staff Development Days. For instance, I facilitated discussion at an ED Camp on "Web Tools for Teachers", I have also presented a webinar at Digital Learning Day on Nearpod, an instructional platform that would allow educators to use technology as part of formative assessments and was part of the team as we presented on "Personalized Learning Journey" in summer 2017 at Administrative Leadership Conference offered by Loudoun County Public Schools.

Apart from being a teacher, I am also an Instructor for (BTI) Best Teaching Practices for New Teacher Institute operated by Mentoring and Coaching Section of Loudoun County Public Schools and have been Cooperating Teacher/Mentor for Student Teachers who go through Shenandoah University School of Education and Liberty University.
