In upcoming days, have students complete a written analysis that responds to the same prompt two ways: once in the compare/contrast framework and once in a cause-and-effect framework. I have provided a sample assignment sheet that asks students to write 1-2 analytical paragraphs/prompt (as opposed to one full-length essay) and a reflection on how changing frameworks changed students' approach. However, this assessment can easily be adapted to suit the needs of any teacher's classroom.
