Explore how writers use storyboards to visualize books and movies, learn how actors train and use fight choreography to portray stories on stage, and become a work of art yourself on this episode of The Creative Corner.  Everyone loves a good story.

Use https://goopenva.org/courses/poems-that-tell-a-story-narrative-and-persona-in-the-poetry-of-robert-frost  and "Love that Dog" to break down POV in poetry. Have students pair up the famous work of Robert Frost with a novel that references the poem. This allows students to break down narrative poetry in multiple formats, and experience the storytelling aspect of poetry. I remixed this lesson to tie in a poetry novel that uses Robert Frost's poem. This lesson fit nicely with the material I use to teach the novel. 

This sample lesson plan incorporates WIDA Key Language Uses to support English language development in conjunction with content instruction.

The goal of this activity is for students to learn how to tell a story in order to make a complex topic (such as global warming or ozone holes) easier for a reader to grasp. Students realize that the narrative impulse underlies even scientific and technical writing and gain a better understanding of the role of myth as a "science" of imagination that helps us to gain insight into human motivation.

Use this resource to encourage students to explore diverse narratives, discover their own personal narrative, and express that narrative through their own work of art.Using provided engagment strategies students are able to hone Critical, Creative, and Communication skills using works of art in the Virginia Museum of Arts collection. Discussion prompts and activities offer instructional oppotunities for building Collaboration and Citizenship skills.

This resource provides a rubric written for middle school students to self-assess their narrative writing. Teachers may also use it for assessment. In this remix, the parts of a narrative essay are outlined.
