Dr. Carter G. Woodson Collaborative

GOALS:

  1. Harness the creativity, expertise, and leadership of social studies specialists to work in collaboration with museum partners to accomplish the mission of The Dr. Carter G. Woodson Collaborative

  2. Curate existing resources and provide context regarding the content and skills they support.

  3. Create five original learning experiences that address the most significant changes to the SOL Curriculum Framework (a mix of constructed response and product/project-based).

  4. Utilize the Quality Criteria Review Tool and Fairfax County’s Design Principles for a Culturally Responsive Curriculum as an evaluation tool

  5. Support Dr. Carter G. Woodson’s vision for African American history by curating existing resources and creating original learning experiences that address the technical edits to the Virginia Standards of Learning developed by the Commission on African American History Education.
