Developing basic addition and subtraction fact strategies for “near doubles”.Mathematics Instructional Plans (MIPs) help teachers align instruction with the 2016 Mathematics Standards of Learning (SOL) by providing examples of how the knowledge, skills and processes found in the SOL and curriculum framework can be presented to students in the classroom.
This assignment can be completed individually or in a group of 2-3. The teacher begins with slide 2, a welder can earn $17/hr. Then using multiplicative or additive properties to complete the table. The first 2 career options give hourly rates. The following two give weekly rates, while the last is a yearly salary. Students can work up or down the ratio table depending on their comfort level. The last three slides are for the students to explore salary options not mentioned before. Students are increasing by 10's and doubles to find the salaries.
