Deadline: March 1st (Always check the website if available to confirm deadline)The Women's Auxiliary for the Rural Letter Carriers of Virginia offer 3 Scholarships for the children or grandchildren of rural route carriers.EligibilityApplicant must be a child or grandchild of a Rural Letter Carrier, regular, retired, or substitute, who is amember in good standing in the VARLCA and a member of the Family Plan.Applicant must be a High School graduating Senior with a “B” grade average, has not reached the age of 21 byAugust 1, 2023 and is not married.Applicant must submit a completed application form and recommendations from two (2) teachers, or one (1)teacher and (1) Guidance Counselor.The applicant must also submit a brief essay explaining his/her career goals and why higher education is desired.The essay must also give information that will support the need for financial help.2-- 1,000 dollar scholarships for  college or trade school1-- 1,000 dollar scholarship for grad school1-- 500 offered by Rural Carrier Veterans.

National Merit Scholarship Program

Requires 11th Grade PSAT/NMSQT Students who plan to spend the usual four years in high school (grades 9 through 12) before entering college full time must 7 take the psat/nmsqt in their third year (usually grade 11, junior year). They will be entering the competition that ends when awards are offered in the spring of their fourth high school year (usually grade 12, senior year), the same year they will leave high school and enter college. Some schools encourage their sophomore students to take the psat/nmsqt for guidance purposes; however, if these students are spending four years in grades 9 through 12, they must take the test again when they are juniors to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program.
