Sharing our remixes?

by Liz Ashby 4 years, 5 months ago

Hey all - I have a couple of questions about how to share our remixes.

1) I've done three remixes and added my team mates, Janet Copenhaver, and Jean Weller as co-authors. Am I supposed to add Jean too? Or just my team mates and Janet? I also added the author of the original resource as a co-auther too. Is that ok?

2) I already published my three remixes instead of just saving them. Is this a huge problem? Do I need to go back and un-publish so that my co-authors can edit if needed? I will just save future ones now that I saw that in Janet's message post.

3) Are we supposed to be saving our remixes to our group folder like we did with our ratings?

Thanks all! If any of my co-authors has a chance to look over the remixes that I did and make sure I'm attributing correctly, please do! Let me know what I need to change if anything.

Liz, I have questions #2 and #3 as well.  I also accientally published instead of just saving.  I can't figure out a way to un-publish, but I know you can continue to edit after publishing, and a copy is created.  So, I'm doing that and then deleting the resource I had published.  I hope that's okay!

1. You can add whoever you want!  When someone is notified that they are a co-author, they have the option to say no at that time. However, no need to add the original author, as they will receive a notification that you have done a remix.

2.  Publishing them is no problem though now your co-authors can't edit in the resource itself.  However, since I think most of us would prefer to send you email about any changes we would suggest rather than going in and editing your file, this is just fine.  Even though you are published YOU can still edit the resource. When you open it you will see a button on the upper left called "Edit"  Just remember to save your edits.

3. It's helpful to save those to the group-folder, just to keep track of what everyone is doing but it's not required.

Lastly, when you are finished with getting feedback from your co-authors, please remove them (you can still do this even after you've published).  Unless, of course, you and your co-authors are deliberately collaborating.  In our case, generally, we're just providing a little feedback.

To remove co-authors, when you are editing the resource, just click on the co-author's icon (their photo if they have one on their profile) and they will be removed.
