Laws of Exponents
This is an exploratory lesson on developing the laws of exponents. Ethan Bridges, a former student, coded in python a program for the laws of exponents.

Launch:
Students will utilize the coded program to develop the laws of exponents. By working in small groups they will try different integer values for their given law and use the examples to develop a pattern. They will then create a poster and present to the class.
To access the program you will need to click "run" and allow updates to install. It may take a few minutes. When ready you will see a screen that says "Please select from the list above."
Lesson:
During each presentation, have the students try some new examples to ensure the rules are correct. Students should then record each rule with some examples in their notebook.
Then utilize whiteboards or small group work to go through some of the sample problems to apply the rules to new problems.
Extend:
Students can then work together or independently on the two truths and a lie worksheet.

Their goal is to find the mistake with each set of problems and then correct the mistake. Begin a level 1 and as they are ready they can move up to level 2 problems and level 3 problems.
