Students investigate solutions to equations using algebra tiles. Solutions to Equations Investigation
Students solve 12 multistep equations that have a single solution. As correct solutions are found, a picture is slowly revealed.
Students will see the most common method used for solving rational equations, practice solving, and check their work on graphs.
This google slides activity provides students practice for solving and graphing one step inequalitites. Students will think about the solutions for problems that inlude misconceptions about inequalities.
In this activity, students will spin a spinner with the number -5 to 5 (including zero.) They are to spin the spinner twice and record the two numbers. Then, students will use the two numbers to create a true equation. Once students create the two solutions, they will then determine if it will yield a positive, negative, or neither result?
Students will use a simulation from a website to examine the effect of standard deviation on the normal curve.
Students work independently, or in small groups, to simplify or evaluate sets of four expressions, then calculate the sum of their answers. This activity is self-checking, using a Google Form.
In this self-checking activity, students will match 18 cards, identifying the slope, y-intercept, and slope-intercept form of each equation to match each of the six tables.
Students use average temperature data from CityRating.com to find and use a curve of best fit for the average temperature in Richmond, Virginia.
Students tell the story of a jellyfish moving through the water using transformations of quadratic functions in standard form.Students sketch graphs of the transformations.Students put all four transformations on one graph to check that their story and transformations work as desired. Students may change any transformations prior to submission.
Students translate verbal expressions to algebraic expressions. Included are both paper and online versions.
This is an open ended task where students will use their knowledge of the distance formula to describe a day of running errands around town. In this task, students will choose places to go and determine how far they traveled on a spceific day.
This is a lesson for students to explore the different layers of the atmosphere and see how altitude affects the air pressure and temperature. At the conclusion of the virutal lab, the students will complete a CER.
This is a 5E Lesson introducing 6th grade students to the concept of a watershed and allows them to locate and identify the watershed they live within.It addresses the following standards: 6.8 The student will investigate and understand that land and water have roles in watershed systems.
