Adding and subtracting whole numbers.   Mathematics Instructional Plans (MIPs) help teachers align instruction with the 2016 Mathematics Standards of Learning (SOL) by providing examples of how the knowledge, skills and processes found in the SOL and curriculum framework can be presented to students in the classroom. 

This site is a series of video lectures and interactive exercises for teaching basic mathematics skills to first graders. It has separate addition and subtraction skills reviews numbers up to 10, 20, and 100; a section on telling time and reading clocks as well as course material on measurement and geometry.

The materials include printable coding cards and math equations for an unplugged math game. The students will work together to create algorithms in order to solve mathematical equations.

This video and accompanying interactive assessment practice was designed to teach Two-step Subtraction (Numbers to 100) - Word Problems to first graders.

This video helps explain a simple unplugged algorithmic math game. Students will solve a basic addition or subtraction problem, locate the answer on a checker board or premade mat, and write an algorithm using arrow cards to get their pawn to the correct answer.
