Partners in the Arts at the University of Richmond joined with VPM and Mending Walls RVA to create a virtual workshop, introducing the Mending Walls processes of building empathy through conversations, and collaborating to create art.

This resource offers videos of the workshop through a StoryMap that features artist discussions, and a participant’s guide with questions, prompts, and activities for educators to use with their students.

Tracking Self-Assessment Over Time. Students use interactive digital tools to document progress over time. A common rubric can be used for self-assessment and reflection, based on teacher-established criteria and/or personal learning goals set by the student.

Artists throughout time have come to their work with stories to tell, concepts to explore, and puzzles to work out. By taking time to look at a work of art with a curious and investigative eye, students can activate creative thinking to imagine and expand on the story it presents.
