Students will explore literal equations using pictures/images to represent variables. Students use inverse operations and properties of equality to solve for the specified image.
Students match features of exponential and logarithmic functions and then consider which features could change with a transformation. Features include: domain, range, intervals of increasing/decreasing, x- and y- intercepts, end behavior, and asymptotes.
Students review domain, range, and intervals of increasing and decreasing using a draggable point to help them find extrema. Students find both absolute and relative extrema.
In the engage section of the 5Elesson, students are introduced to the role of fossils as evidence of evolution and evolutionary relationships by watching a videos about the discovery of Lucy and Ardi and consider what type of information that they can gain from skull fossils. Students will then explore features of skulls from human ancestors and the modern day Homo sapien. After measuring skull to cheekbone ratios, students will create a graph to compare various species. Several interactives are provided to explain fossils, skeletal evidence for human evolution, and phylogenetic trees. Then, students will apply their skills of analyzing data about anatomical similarities and genetic information to depict evolutionary relationships between organisms using cladograms. To evaluate student understanding, students will complete an evolutionary relationships CER.
In this task, students will use their knowledge of area and perimeter and explore the best or most unique design for a community garden. Students will represent their garden on a grid and explain why it is the best garden for the community.
5E model lesson covering genetic engineering tools and technologies.
In this activity, students will be randomly assigned a point and a slope. They will use a movable point to plot a second point and receive visual feedback via animation as well as explicit written feedback about the slope of the line they created. All starting points and target slopes are generated randomly, so students in the class are not likely to get the same problems within a slide. They will all be practicing plotting points given a slope.
This is an exploratory activity. Students should have some prior knowledge of evaluating functions for given domain inputs using function notation.This lesson will walk students through using a table and plotting points. By the end of the lesson students should walk away understanding that a line is infinitely many points.
This is a guided practice, instructional activity. First students create input-output tables to graph. Then students apply slope-intercept reasoning to graph linear equations. Equations are given in slope-intercept form.
Setting up a New iPad and iPad Basics
This was a resource Henrico county teachers and students utilized during virtual learning. The site was accessible to all PreK - 12 learners in the county and consisted of choice boards, performance tasks, STEAM, and Book talks. This site was similar to Netflix where students had a choice and voice in the learning process. These resources focused on Henrico's Learning Profile which is a synthesis of the Profile of a VA Graduate and focuses on the 6 C's - Quality Character, Global Citizen, Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creative Thinking.

Setting up a new Chromebook and Chromebook Basics
Students read about and explain the process of transgenic manipulation to produce crops resistant to herbicides and pests. Afterwards students evaluate the pros and cons. Next, students read various pro/neutral/con articles about genetically modified foods and evaluate the perspective of the author. Finally, students use evidence from the reading to write a CER stating their opinion on GMOs.

This is a choice board focusing on the layers of the atmosphere. Students will have an opportuity to choose from 6 different projects to share their understanding of the layers of the atmosphere. All projects contain a description as well as a grading rubric.
In this activity, students will visit six stores by clicking on each store name. Each store will have a different scenario in which students will have to calculate an amount based on the question. Students will first estimate the answer, then give the actual solution. Students are to round answers to the nearest cent.
