This activity is an engaging way to allow students to practice genre identification. Students will work in pairs to find an example of each type of genre listed on the form. This is an engaging activity to help students to learn to identify different genre types. This is an engaging activity for SOL 4.5d.

Students will watch a teacher selected Apple advertisement/video and then identify the various Apple products mentioned in the ad. Students will then discuss how technology has changed the US marketplace and how the advertisement reflects the values of American culture. After discussing the current use of technology in the workplace, students will collaborate and hypothesize what the future of technology and American culture is based on current trends. Essential vocabulary: culture, technology, automation.

Students will complete a research paper on using technology. The teacher will go over the instructions and requirements for the research paper. Before the students are allowed to research technology, the teacher will do a brainstorming session of social and ethical issues students might come across when using their computer or are on the internet.

This lesson is intended to be an introduction to identifying ideas, texts, images, and products as one's own or borrowed from another source.
Determining whether a proportional relationship exists between two quantities and making connections between and among representations of a proportional relationship Mathematics Instructional Plans (MIPs) help teachers align instruction with the Mathematics Standards of Learning (SOL) by providing examples of how the knowledge, skills and processes found in the SOL and curriculum framework can be presented to students in the classroom.
In this task, we are given the graph of two lines including the coordinates of the intersection point and the coordinates of the two vertical intercepts, and are asked for the corresponding equations of the lines. It is a very straightforward task that connects graphs and equations and solutions and intersection points. The students will use a VDOE resource to recognize and describe the graph of a linear function (foldables, bingo game, lesson plan for the teacher).
