This lesson is used to show how conditionals can help filter a dataset. This lesson uses python and a large csv file of Netflix Content to filter through PG-13 movies and output recommendations based on user genre choce. This lesson can be taught using any python IDE and intended to be a live programming demonstration with students. Students will then extend this concept using a dataset of their own choice or other datasets given to them to explore.

Students will learn about how pixels make up images on a computer.  They will complete an unplugged activity to create a pixelated image using binary digits.  They will then create a pixelated image using more digits on an excel spreadsheet.

SVRCSP - DNA Technologies for AP or Honors Biology

DNA Technologies lesson adds some aspects of computer science and "everyday relevance"/ethics to a unit on DNA technologies followed by a DNA extraction lab. Students create a public opinion survey on DNA modification and use it to collect data (the more the better). Afterwards, they perform data analysis, viusualization and discussion in addition to extracting DNA and talking about its current uses in science and medicine. Students work in groups or as a whole class, depending on the class size.

SVRCSP - St. Patrick’s Day Graphing/Predicting

 This is a fun, quick and easy way for students practice Data Anaylsis. Students will roll a 6 sided cube with each side containing a different St. Pat’s Day image. Students will record their data on a graph. Students will then make a prediction on which image they think they will roll next based on their data. Included is an editable cube so you can choose your own images. It's not limited to St. Pat's Day.
