A K-W-L form is a great resource to have students complete to monitor growth. This activity can be used for any subject and any topic. Students will be surprised and amazed to see what they learn all semester. As a teacher, you will have at your disposal the ability to track progress in an alternative manner.
In this activity, students will visit six stores by clicking on each store name. Each store will have a different scenario in which students will have to calculate an amount based on the question. Students will first estimate the answer, then give the actual solution. Students are to round answers to the nearest cent.
Activities that help students explore writing a linear equation.
This is a task from the Illustrative Mathematics website that is one part of a complete illustration of the standard to which it is aligned. Each task has at least one solution and some commentary that addresses important aspects of the task and its potential use. The Virginia Department of Education Resource titled, "Telling the Tale," walks students through a real world exercise analyzing a linear relationship.
