This activity is designed for synchronous, live instruction. Each time you press the spacebar, the wheels spin and stop on a new set of terms. Students take turns forming the statements from the terms that appear. 

This is a popular Mexican board game that can be printed and played in groups to review any material. 

This is a printable version of the classic Spanish game, el parchis. It can be used with any set of skills to be practiced. 

In this activity, students will spin a spinner with the number -5 to 5 (including zero.) They are to spin the spinner twice and record the two numbers. Then, students will use the two numbers to create a true equation. Once students create the two solutions, they will then determine if it will yield a positive, negative, or neither result?

The purpose of this lesson is to help students understand the U.S. foreign policy toward the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It focuses on spying and includes the Rosenbergs, Alger Hiss, and U-2 Pilot Francis Gary Powers.  Students will analyze primary and secondary sources while working in groups and individually.   

Students will use a simulation from a website to examine the effect of standard deviation on the normal curve.

 Subtraction with regrouping is a skill that we practice throughout the school year because my students need lots of practice.  This activity supports sol 3.3b, create and solve single-step and multi-step practical problems involving sums or differences of two whole numbers, each 9,999 or less.  The students make a big circle around the room and play a cakewalk style game.  When the teacher stops the music, they sit in front of the closest card and subtract the two numbers to find the difference.   Students use their knowledge of place value and estimation to determine if their answer is reasonable.  With this game, I was able to incorporate movement into my classroom.  I love seeing my students have fun while learning!   

Working in groups of two or three, students will identify the meaning of the given suffixes and will list as many words as possible that can be created from each in the allotted time. For each word, students will also write a definition and identify the part of speech of the word. The assignment can also be completed independently but may be more engaging for students if they can work collaboratively. 

Create an instagram post from one of the characters in the novel :The Bad Beginning” by Lemony Snicket,  inspired by an event,  from one of the characters perspective.

Students work independently, or in small groups, to simplify or evaluate sets of four expressions, then calculate the sum of their answers.  This activity is self-checking, using a Google Form.
