“Into the Cloud” is an animated digital safety web series intended for children ages
10 and under. Season 1 focuses on issues including cyberbullying, online privacy,
online distractions, misleading information, and inappropriate online behavior.
Season 2 tackles livestreaming and gaming and dives deeper into the issue of inappropriate
online behavior and the potential consequences and dangers lurking online.
The following activities are meant to be led by mature middle and high school students acting in a
mentorship role with a younger student. They are best practiced in a 1:1 or small group setting. This format
fosters closer relationship building between the students and their mentors and encourages more honest and
open conversations.
Facilitating these activities with younger children may count towards community or school service hours,
check with your program coordinator for more information. Each activity may take between 30 minutes and
1 hour.
NOTE: Activities marked with Ages 8+ are best conducted with children who are at least 8 years old.
All videos are available on YouTube or on the kid-safe site NetSmartzKids.org/videos.

Ser "To BE" Notes & Guide

SERI found "SER" to be one of the most difficult things for students to remember. However, this mnemonic has become one of my most popular lessons. Students remember and use them all the time after they have learned it this way.The first form is your teacher notes with all the answers. It will help you lead them and understand the lesson.  The second one is the student form they would fill it in as you lead them in. Normally, after I present this lesson. I ask students to write sentences about them using all the functions of “SER”. Then about their parents.  I modeled on myself first. Then I ask them to come to the front of the class and read their examples.

Here is a simple lab report that can be used in any science class (6-12). The report is designed to help students identify hypotheses, independent and dependent variables, controls, constants, and to analyze experiments. I have also included tips on a simple way to teach your students to identify the IV and DV through a "cave man hypothesis" and how to teach controls with less confusion.

In this Thematic Exploration, students will explore the different ways artists represent individuals in portraits. They will learn to gather clues about the time period in which the portrait was created, the lives of the subjects, and the thoughts of the artists.

Using portraits from the VMFA's collection, students will explore the Who, What, When, Where, and Why of portraiture. Guiding questions are woven throughout the activity, alongside a close examination of seven different portraits from a variety of different eras and cultures. Students are encouraged to observe, interpret, analyze, and reflect thoughtfully in each step. This activity also includes summative reflection questions to wrap up the conversation, as well as an optional "Create Your Own Portrait" activity.
