1st Grade Virginia Computer Science Curriculum Integration
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC-SA
Rating
0.0 stars

The Computer Science Office in Loudoun County Public Schools has developed this curriculum integration document to support the integration of the 2017 Virginia Computer Science Standards into core subject areas and beyond. Each CS standard was aligned to up to 3 grade level standards that made natural correlations.Additionally, many activities and resources were included to each standard to support the introduction and integration of the standard. For each of the six strands of the Computer Science Standards of Learning: Computing Systems, Networks and the Internet, Cybersecurity, Data and Analysis, Algorithms and Programming, and Impacts of Computing, we have included tiered support called "Fuel", "Spark", and "Ignite". The "Fuel" is provided to build teacher capacity and students' understanding in understanding the CS SOL. The "Spark" provides a Computer Science integrated experience into a core or speciality subject SOL. The "Ignite" section is where teachers in Loudoun County have the opportunity to share authentic learning experiences and lessons in our LCPS Computer Science Lesson Repository. This document was created as part of the Virginia K-12 Computer Science Pipeline which is partly funded through a GOVA and DHCD grant in partnership with Chesapeake Public Schools, Loudoun County Public Schools, and the Loudoun Education Foundation.

First Grade Troubleshooting Tips
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC
Rating
0.0 stars

The provided resource will help first graders troubleshoot when experiencing technical difficulties prior to asking the teacher for help.
Print the following document(s) on cardstock.

There are three options
1. Print like a bookmark and fold in half. Glue the two sides together. The student will have to flip from front to back to see the problem and troubleshooting tips.
2. Print half sheet for students to see all the problems and troubleshooting tips at one time.
3. Print a class size to display in the computer center or on a wall near student desks.

You can use colors if it will help students better locate the item when they need help. The context is very simple as it is meant for younger students that may not be able to read all the terminology at the beginning of the school year. Please feel free to MAKE A COPY and then modify the context to better fit your classroom needs.
The teacher will need to review the document and symbols with the students prior to distributing individual copies. This will ensure better understanding of the terms used.

Spanish Preposition Illustration
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted

Rating

Great illustration for showing the meaning of the most common prepositions in Spanish. I would use this in my classroom as a printout to glue into their notebook. During preposition learning and practice, students would have this on their desk as a visual resource. You could also have students act out the illustrations with a picture frame matte or cross stitch hoop to be the box along with any ball. This practice could also turn into an assessment for students to show their understanding.

Students could also look at a variety of sample pictures or even spaces in the classroom. Using the prepositions, they could describe their relation to each other.
