CATCH Healthy Smiles is a program for grades Pre-K – 2 that is designed to improve the oral health of students by teaching about and encouraging proper toothbrushing and flossing techniques, a nutritious diet, and regular visits to a dentist.
Through the program, students learn about the major factors that cause tooth decay and develop the skills needed to maintain a healthy smile. The CATCH Healthy Smiles program is designed to help students:
* Discover the causes of tooth decay, including dietary choices and poor oral health habits in our oral health education programs;
* Develop skills for brushing, flossing, and choosing tooth-healthy foods & drinks;
* Recognize the importance of regular dental visits; and,
* Create personal oral health care goals.
CATCH Healthy Smiles was developed by researchers at the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health, with funding support from the National Institutes of Health.

In this activity, students will learn to identify the 7 continents by name and location through song activity blending active learning. Students will learn facts pertaining to each continent and practice syllable breaking strategies.
This is a 6-day unit focusing on Components of Fitness and Skill Related Components. Students will rotate through each station (1 per class block). Days 4-6 students will be involved in creation an exercise video using the information.
The student will create & solve single-step story and picture problems using addition and subtraction
Following a brief warm-up routine where students pretend to be a plant reacting to sunlight and water, students learn motions representing a period, question mark, and exclamation mark. As our narrators read ten sentences, students perform the motion that matches the appropriate end punctuation for each sentence.
The nine tick and tick-borne disease prevention activities in this package align with the Virginia Standards of Learning for Health and Physical Education for 3rd to 5th grade. Topics include, but are not limited to: how to identify a tick, proper tick-borne disease prevention techniques, and safe tick removal. These active learning activities are presented in a lesson plan-type format and can be used alone or in combination to easily create lessons or a unit. They can be easily modified for use with older school-age students and adult populations.These educational resources were developed by a Health and Physical Educator and a Master Certified Health Education Specialist in support of Virginia House Bill 850. The bill requires the development of school-age-appropriate educational resources for schools and public libraries by 2028 to protect children from Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases.
