Want to learn about how to describe matter and sort as well as learn about impacts of computing at the kindergarten level?  If so, this fun and easy lesson is for you! 

Students will conduct an apple investigation that includes if the apple sinks or floats, the number of seeds inside, the weight of the apple, and even a taste test. They will also have the chance to make an apple life cycle spinner.  

This activity supports student knowledge of community and story telling.  Students also build map skills and coding skills as they use the robot to act out the story.  Basic block coding skills can be taught as part of the lesson or prior to the lesson. 

This sorting activity allows the students to explore several hands-on tasks that will encourage the students to use critical thinking skills to categorize and logically sort items by one or more attributes.

Students will view a whole group video about responsibility and we will discuss being responsible with various things such as information, technology, and classroom items (the sensory items) We will also discuss taking turns and sharing, etc. Students will then be split into 5 groups and rotate through various sensory items. These items include a calm down corner, stretchy fidget strings, pop it squeeze balls, multi colored quiet fidget toys, and slow rising squishy balls. Throughout these rotations, the teacher will remind students of the responsible behaviors expected.
