A zip line is a way to glide from one point to another while hanging from a cable. Design and create a zip line that is safe for a hard-boiled egg. After designing a safety egg harness, connect the harness to fishing line or wire connected between two chairs of different heights using a paper clip. Learn to improve your zip line based on data. Attach a motion sensor at the bottom of your zip line and display a graph to show how smooth a ride your egg had!

In this lesson plan, it provides students the opportunity to explore the rules of adding postive and negative integers using the online tool of Desmos. This is a lesson that encourages blended learning, class discussion, student discovery and provides multiple entry points for all students to actively participate. The plan includes the Desmos activity "Adding Integers" with the goal of creating two card groups with the same amount. The goal is to use the most cards to create equal groups. The level of difficulty increases with each new challenge. It begins using all positive integers then moves on to include negative integers. The lesson plan also includes suggestions on where to pause the activity to hold class discussions and another online tool to explore zero pairs using virtual integer chips. Suggested discussion questions are included to help lead students to the main idea if they are struggling.

This is the initial draft of something I started working on as a potential performance task for students. I still need to make a few variations and align with specific curriculum objectives, but have a solid start on developing the performance task and consider it important to start building this capacity in our students and staff now as we shift toward more blended learning environments.
