“Into the Cloud” is an animated digital safety web series intended for children ages
10 and under. Season 1 focuses on issues including cyberbullying, online privacy,
online distractions, misleading information, and inappropriate online behavior.
Season 2 tackles livestreaming and gaming and dives deeper into the issue of inappropriate
online behavior and the potential consequences and dangers lurking online.
The following activities are meant to be led by mature middle and high school students acting in a
mentorship role with a younger student. They are best practiced in a 1:1 or small group setting. This format
fosters closer relationship building between the students and their mentors and encourages more honest and
open conversations.
Facilitating these activities with younger children may count towards community or school service hours,
check with your program coordinator for more information. Each activity may take between 30 minutes and
1 hour.
NOTE: Activities marked with Ages 8+ are best conducted with children who are at least 8 years old.
All videos are available on YouTube or on the kid-safe site NetSmartzKids.org/videos.

Perimeter with Missing Sides Game

Perimeter with missing sides is a skill that my students need lots of practice with.  After we practice together, measuring around a polygon, I have them practice finding the perimeter by playing this game, Perimeter with Missing Sides Game.  The game was made with Google Slides so it can be played whole group or assigned in Google Classroom for students to work on individually.  This game supports sol 3.8a, measuring the distance around a polygon in order to determine its perimeter using U.S. Customary and metric units.  I created this game in order to give my students fun practice in a virtual setting but I’m able to use it with both in person and virtual students.

I created the Polygons Sort Jam to give my students practice with polygons vocabulary.  Before doing the sort, I have my students practice with drawing polygons and playing games to help learn the names.  I also give them a helpful hints page to help them remember the names and sides of the polygons. This activity supports sol 3.12, identify and name polygons with ten or fewer sides.

Poem “Dans Paris” par Paul Éluard

The poem is a great resource to introduce demonstrative adjectives (ce, cet, cette, ces) for French I students.

*I love using poetry in my classrooms. This is an excellent way to practice pronunciation and intonation.
