This newly updated digital course educates students about the potential dangers of misusing prescription medications, including fentanyl. The course – developed in partnership with Truth Initiative, the public health organization behind the nationally recognized truth® youth tobacco prevention and education campaign – explores the impact misuse can have on teens' physical and mental health, relationships, communities, and futures. The tone and design of the updated course is more youth-led and easier to digest by teens with brand new content addressing the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit drugs.

This is a lesson that integrates programming in Python or Scratch into 3rd grade math. The focus of this lesson is on polygons.SOL's:Math 3.12The student will a) define polygon; b) identify and name polygons with 10 or fewer sides; and c) combine and subdivide polygons with three or four sides and name the resulting polygon(s).CS 3.2  3.2  The student will construct programs to accomplish tasks as a means of creative expression using a block- or text-based programming language, both independently and collaboratively a. using sequencing; b. using loops (a wide variety of patterns such as repeating patterns or growing patterns); and c. identifying events. 

The purpose of this lesson is to help students understand  the goals and impact of the Progressive Movement, particularly the impact of the muckrakers, which sought to reform the economic, political, and social systems of the United States through government regulation and oversight.  

The Progressive era is typically taught as through the lens that people shaped their world in response to the societal problems that came along with the eras of industrialization, urbanization and mass immigration to the United States.  This lesson is taught through the lens that geography also shaped reform.  Impacts of geography include the growth of Chicago due to its relative location as an intermediary between cattle drives and east coast cities, labor reform including building safety and the geography of buildings and fire exits, and conservative efforts such as the National Parks.  This lesson is not meant to teach the entirety of the Progressive era, but a few specific points that were impacted by geography. Contains links to student materials and teacher materials for creating lesson plans.
