This resource is a comprehensive unit of instruction created and piloted by the ACSE Region III team over the 2022-23 school year. This unit, which is accessible through multiple links to include worksheets, slidedecks, teacher suggestions and planning documents, includes all components of the instruction with SOL connections and is intended to join Computer Science standards to an ELA content area.

The student will apply social science skills to understand the factors that shaped Colonial America by describing colonial life in America from the perspectives of large landowners, farmers, artisans, merchants, women, free African Americans, indentured servants, and enslaved African Americans, by creating a computational artifact.

This is a performance task where students explore CS concepts, pseudocode, and flowcharts through the lens of order of operations on day 1 and design a math homework helper app on day 2.

Information Technology is a broad field to learn about. Within IT there are many careers. This lesson is designed to help engage the students in the IT field where they will be able to research and discover various jobs they are interested in. Students will discover the education requirments, possible benefits of different jobs, salary, hiring demad, and growth potential in the field.The activities include: brainstorming, compare and contrast, research, writing,  and using software either in Google or Microsoft.

Students will create a flowchart to demonstrate order of operations. They will use the flowchart to be able to solve a mathematical problem. 

The space industry has been creating innovative technologies for decades. Students in this lesson will explore the world of space technologies and how they play a role in our everyday life.

Students will participate in multiple hands on activities with states of matter over several days.

In this lab exercise, students make measurements using common lab equipment and practice a wide range of calculations. It serves as an introduction to lab measurement and calculation for a physics or chemistry course.

     This is an active learning activity related to action verbs.  This activity will get your student moving while learning about action verbs.  The students will use action verbs to get the class galloping, running, skipping, hopping, etc.  Students will also demonstrate how to use these action verbs in complete sentences. 

Students will write on a predetermined topic. , the students will need some words to help build sentences. The beach ball will have words or phrases written on it that will help the students such as:  I love my pet___________(cat, dog, fish, etc. ) I like to play _______________(game) _ with my pet.  I feed my pet__ _____________. 

Actividades de práctica con aprendices del español is an online corpus of videos of second language and heritage language learners of Spanish during oral interviews and provides supplemental activities to help viewers investigate learners’ language and proficiency levels.

Deer mice live in many different habitats across North America. In each subpopulation, their fur coloring is a good match to their habitat. How did this come to be? Students run simulated experiments controlling habitat, predators, and displays of data. An optional datasheet can be used to structure quantitative work. The activity includes suggested questions for students to investigate, with particular attention to how the adaptation occurs solely at the population level, while natural selection operates on individuals.

This is a google slides lesson on adding integers by modeling.  Students drag and drop the counters to model the equation then solve.

In this lesson, the student will develop a simple addition algorithm using a flow chart.  Students will then translate the flowchart into programming instructions that can be input into the Java language to complete their first addition Java program.  Students will then expand on this program to include allowing the user to input the integers from the Java scanner.
