This podcast focuses primarily on sitting nicely in a classroom, raising your answer, and taking turns. It gives explicit instruction on the importance of raising your hand, lowering your hand, listening, staying on task, and sitting in one place while the teacher calls on students.

Students will use pattern blocks to construct a program and use algorithms to accomplish a task. Students will decompose larger problems into smaller tasks. Students will begin to think about the impacts of computing and computing devices. The accurate use of terminology as well as the responsible use of technology will continue to be built upon. The foundational understanding of computing and the use of technology will be an integral component of successful acquisition of skills across content areas.

This video and accompanying essay examine ways to reduce the environmental impact of burning coal. Two technologies are discussed: turning solid coal into a clean-burning fuel gas (syngas), and capture and storage of CO2.

Students will read a passage, extract useful and meaningful data, organize and clean the data, and finally represent the data as a graph. Students will practice using computational skills by collecting, organizing, and cleaning data amongst the class. They will use these computer science skills to analyze watershed systems within the science field. Students will collect data through a stream simulation as well as organize and clean that data to determine the health of the stream.

The Portuguese language lessons of ClicaBrasil highlight aspects of Brazilian culture. They are designed for intermediate to advanced students, but are accessible to everyone. Each lesson includes videos of Brazilians from all walks of life speaking naturally about their lives and their country. All lessons integrate reading, writing, listening and comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, oral communication and cultural activities with the videos. This is also available as a free PDF textbook and as print on demand.

In this lesson plan and video, students will explore various solutions by simulating different policies in a model and about how people have started to tackle climate change within their careers. 

The term "global average temperature" is defined and its importance in monitoring climate change is discussed. This lesson remixes an original lesson created by Govind Lingam entitled "Teach Design: Mood Board." In this movement-inclusive lesson, students will conduct an art-based anticipatory activity that introduces them to the close-reading process with a special emphasis on mood and imagery. They will then transition to a close-reading of a small passage from Jekyll & Hyde in order to demonstrate how our understanding of a passage changes with each new read as well as to gain a clearer understanding of how specific details function in a larger narrative.

This activity is intended as an introduction to close-reading using visual media. In this lesson, students will review and then closely "read" the painting, "The Kiss" by Gustav Klimt in order to understand the process of close-reading and its impact on our understanding of texts. Once students have learned how to conduct close-reading of a visual text, they reflect on how they might transfer this skill to the written word.
This activity also includes optional extension activities that incorporate poetry into the lesson.
