The goal of FBI-SOS is to promote cyber citizenship and help students learn about online safety while engaging in fun, interactive games. The program was designed to address current Internet safety threats while keeping each grade level's online usage and knowledge in mind. We hope that you find the program beneficial and that your students use the information to make themselves safer digital citizens.

Mic Drop Maths is a mathematics podcast for 5th graders based on the VA Standards of Learning. Each episode addresses one standard and is broken into segments including concept, real-world application, math history, literature connections, misconceptions, and more! There is music, sound effects, jokes, and student voice in each engaging and entertaining episode. 

Students will understand the personal information of each famous American, why it is important, and how their personal information is important. 

Learn how monetary policy works by taking charge of a simulated economy or learn how the federal reserve influences the US economy through this boards monetary policy media center.

The nine tick and tick-borne disease prevention activities in this package align with the Virginia Standards of Learning for Health and Physical Education for 3rd to 5th grade. Topics include, but are not limited to: how to identify a tick, proper tick-borne disease prevention techniques, and safe tick removal. These active learning activities are presented in a lesson plan-type format and can be used alone or in combination to easily create lessons or a unit. They can be easily modified for use with older school-age students and adult populations.These educational resources were developed by a Health and Physical Educator and a Master Certified Health Education Specialist in support of Virginia House Bill 850. The bill requires the development of school-age-appropriate educational resources for schools and public libraries by 2028 to protect children from Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases.  

The first skill I practice with my students on area is counting the square units inside of a regular shape.  It gives them a better understanding about area.  This activity supports sol 3.8b, counting the number of square units needed to cover a given surface in order to determine its area.  I created this jamboard for my virtual students, so that they are doing the same lesson as my in person students and I can see their work in real time.  Jamboard has been an essential Google tool for me during this school year while teaching both in person and virtual students.

At each discrete time unit, each tree is either on green, on fire, or burnt. A tree on fire at a given time can catch neighboring trees on fire at the next time unit. The decades between the banning of the international slave trade in 1808 and the abolition of slavery during the Civil War saw the massive and harrowing relocation of approximately 850,000 enslaved men, women, and children. While some enslaved people were moved when their owners relocated to the western frontier, about two-thirds were bought and sold in America’s slave market. They were forcibly uprooted from their homes, separated from their loved ones, and marched and shipped across the South on railroads and steamships.

At all points in its history, a significant proportion of the population of the United States had been born in other countries and regions. This being the case, American history can never be understood by just looking within its borders. The culture and politics of the US have always been profoundly shaped by the material and emotional ties many of its residents have had to the places where they were born. This map will allow you to begin to explore those connections at the basic level of demographic statistics.

In the engage section of the 5Elesson, students are introduced to the role of fossils as evidence of evolution and evolutionary relationships by watching a videos about the discovery of Lucy and Ardi and consider what type of information that they can gain from skull fossils. Students will then explore features of skulls from human ancestors and the modern day Homo sapien. After measuring skull to cheekbone ratios, students will create a graph to compare various species. Several interactives are provided to explain fossils, skeletal evidence for human evolution, and phylogenetic trees. Then, students will apply their skills of analyzing data about anatomical similarities and genetic information to depict evolutionary relationships between organisms using cladograms. To evaluate student understanding, students will complete an evolutionary relationships CER.

This interactive and collaborative group activity lets the students master the vocabulary “En ville” and give and follow directions.

When world events suddenly shift our perspective and present overwhelming concerns, thinking like an artist can offer a way to creatively reflect on and process our days. Use the art, videos, and ideas in this lesson concept to help students explore ways to visually articulate their experiences by considering the colors, objects, and materials they encounter throughout their days.

In this hands-on activity students learn how a gene provides the instructions for making a protein, and how genes can cause albinism or sickle cell anemia. Simple paper models are used to simulate the molecular processes of transcription and translation. This activity can be used to introduce students to these topics or to reinforce student understanding. In addition, students evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of different types of models included in this activity.

The random variables of interest are the number of successes and the probability of a success. The applet illustrates the binomial distribution, the law of large numbers and the central limit theorem.
