Students are given a visual arts project to create a Mixed Media Anatomy artwork where they must decompose the process of completing the project into sub-components. Students will create prototypes (sketches) and will conduct the project as an iterative design by taking daily progress photos, making adjustments to the original design, and having peer feedback.   

This gives students two different things to do with what they have learned and read about Storms and precipitation. Not only will students have a good time using stamps but they can also take what they read and interpret it into a graph. This is a very vital skill throughout school all the way up until 12 grade.

Celebrate Earth Day with this lesson full of activities to show your students why we need to take care of our environment. 

This lesson teaches students about artificial intelligence and its use in history. Students will be able to use AI technology to create drawings about Native Americans.

First, students will listen to the read-alouds listed above over several days.  Students will begin to be able to identify and sort items according to needs vs. wants.  The students will have to choose items carefully and responsibly in order to ensure that their wants are not getting in the way of their needs.  Next, students will listen to the “Needs and Wants Explained - Facts for Kids” video.  Students will then complete an interactive Word Wall sort by sorting needs and wants into their correct categories.Then, the teacher will give each student a scenario (Example:  I need you to collect 3 needs and 1 want).  Students will bring them to the carpet where students will sort their chosen items into two groups (needs vs wants).  Teachers and students will discuss the sorted items and allow students to explain the reasoning behind their choices.   Finally, students will discuss why we need to be responsible with our choices when we use technology.

Students will solve system of equations and break it down and compare it to breaking down information to transmit it using the internet.

In this lesson, students will be learning about different ways we communicate and how some of this communication has changed.  The students will also be learning about different community helpers and discuss ways the community helpers use communication in their jobs. 

This is a review lesson intended to be used at the end of the unit on Oceans. Students work in teams to complete activities that will result in the creation of a code or password. The codes will open a series of four locks to open a large lock box. A smaller lock box with a more difficult password can be solved to reveal a prize. This lesson also incorporates the topic of cybersecurity using password safety.

Sequencing the Scientific method Students struggling with currently sequencing the scientific method? This activity will help students understand how and why it is important to currently order the scientific method by having them incorrectly carry out the method in an experiment! Yes!!! You read correctly students will attempt to conduct and experiment using the Scientific method out of order to begin with! They will journal the results and discuss with their small group, why this order did not work and how to fix the sequence. Then they will conduct the same experience using the correct sequence of the scientific method using the Scientific Experiment recording sheet. Once they have successfully conducted the experiment, students will discuss and journal their results comparing both experiments.
