This concentration level course is a study of the physical, perceptual, cognitive, personality, and language developmental stages of children from conception through adolescence, including the principle theories of development and their application. The need for an understanding of how children develop and what influences their development is an important component of contributing to the demands of our complex society. Students will develop an understanding of children and the developmental process through readings, case studies, observations, individual research projects and group project work. Active class participation is enhanced by limited community classroom placement under the guidance of a mentor teacher. All students are required to observe and/or participate in settings and classrooms at the preschool/primary/elementary or middle/junior high levels at the end of the Spring semester.

Students will examine the history and culture of the Choctaw Native Americans, as well as the story of the Code Talkers in WW1, in order to memorialize one of the Choctaw Code Talkers. 

This presentation focuses on the hows and whys of using Choice Board and Hyperdocs. It is about 54 minutes long and the accompanying slide deck is included.

In this lesson students will write a story about a dog that likes to explore. After they have written their story they will do a “remix” in Scratch that uses cause and effect with loops. It's a story that has already been started in Scratch and they will finish the story and then animate it.

 Students will be given a division model, mathematical sentence, or practical problem to solve. After solving a problem, they will enter their answer into the Google Form and it will tell them if they got the correct solution.  If they answered incorrectly, they will need to try again to move on.  If they answer correctly, they choose which problem they want to solve next.  This activity is designed so that students will complete 5 problems.
